Redding's Heritage Center Offers Opera, Photoshop Programs For Seniors
REDDING, CONN. -- Opera and relaxation classes are on the agenda in January for the Heritage Senior Center in Redding.
According to the center’s website, it is offering an “Opera Talk” at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12.
It has also launched an eight-week Photoshop class from 9:30 a.m. – noon on Thursdays. The registration fee is $60.
Its “Relax and Restore” class, going on now, will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays.
There will be no Spanish classes, however, in January. And there is no drawing class on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Landmark Inn At Newtown Closing Doors After 17 Years
NEWTOWN, CONN. – The Inn at Newtown, a restaurant and bar in an historic house in the center of town, will be serving its last meal this weekend after 17 years as the town’s social center, said owner Robert Ryder.
The inn will close on Sunday, Jan. 10, after dinner service, Ryder said in his post.
In a Twitter post, Ryder said that the decision to close was a hard one for him and his partners, but it will be harder still to say goodbye to the inn’s loyal staff and longtime customers.

BEACON, N.Y. -- Some artists work in oils, others in clay, but minimalist pioneer Robert Irwin, who designed the architecture at Dia:Beacon, creates with light, space, and concrete, according to a recent write-up in The Wall Street Journal.
The octogenarian’s hand can be seen at the behemoth of a museum perched on the banks of the Hudson in everything from the galleries to the parking lots, which are interlaced with hawthorn trees, and the pathways, which he created from interlocking cement blocks with tufts of grass growing in-between them.

Atlanta Woman Faces Multiple Charges in Wilton Debit Card Case
WILTON, Conn. -- An Atlanta woman faces multiple charges after, police said, she tried to fraudulently use two debit cards at a bank in Wilton.
Brittany Manns, 24, was arrested at the Chase Bank at 33 Old Ridgefield Road about 5 p.m. Dec. 30, police said.
Manns is being charged, police said, with criminal impersonation, identity theft, forgery and attempted larceny.
Bond was set at $20,000. She is to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
