HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Hyde Park, while packed with history and blessed with being located on the gorgeous Hudson River, lacks a traditional town center, says its supervisor, Aileen Rohr, in a “Legislative Insight” column written for the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Drunk Driver's Restaurant Ruse Flops, Danbury Police Say
DANBURY, Conn. -- A driver who pretended to be a restaurant patron to avoid the cops after a set of crashes was arrested anyway in Danbury, police told the News Times.
Juan Carlos Villa, a 31-year-old city resident, was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, among other things, after police said he struck a parked car and another vehicle on Liberty Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, the News Times story said.

Bridgeport Man Gets Two Years In Prison For Weapons Possession
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man, who is a convicted felon, has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison for weapons possession, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Lorenzo Carter, 21, was sentenced in a New Haven Court Tuesday, Feb. 23, to 21 months behind bars, plus three years of supervised release.
According to Daly, Carter had been previously convicted of carrying a pistol without a permit and illegally receiving a pistol, both felonies.

Bridgeport Man Avoids Trial, Pleads Guilty To Shooting Girlfriend
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man who pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend faces 36 years behind bars when he is sentenced in April, according to a report by the Connecticut Post.
Jose Santiago, 38, who pleaded guilty Tuesday, Feb. 23, to manslaughter and assault, fatally shot 24-year-old Kiromy Fontanez and wounded her father in 2014, the Connecticut Post reported.
His case was just about to go to trial, the Connecticut Post story said.

Man Tried To Lure Girl Into Car In Stratford
STRATFORD, Conn. – A possible attempted abduction is under investigation in Stratford, according to a report by the Connecticut Post.
An unidentified 13-year-old girl was walking on Cutspring Road on Tuesday, Feb. 23, when a man she did not know offered her a ride, police told the Connecticut Post.
The teen told her mother, who then reported it to local authorities, the Connecticut Post said. The car the man was driving was described as a dark colored, possibly gray Honda, according to the Connecticut Post.

Woman Charged After Employees Find Her Hiding In Yorktown Macy's
YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Bronx woman faces burglary charges after she was found hiding in the Macy’s at the Jefferson Valley Mall, Yorktown police said.
Irene L. Trujillo, 53, was discovered by store employees after hours on Monday, Feb. 22, and police were called.
Police said that the store felt the suspect’s intent was to steal merchandise.
Trujillo, who now faces a felony charge, was sent to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.
She is to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Feb. 25, police said.
