Downed Power Lines Cause Outages In Mahopac
Several Hudson Valley residents experienced temporary power outages as crews worked to repair downed wires on a busy road. The outages occurred in Putnam County on Tuesday afternoon, March 19 at around 2:45 p.m., when several power lines fell on Old Union Valley Road in the area of Route 6 and Mi-Anna Drive in Mahopac, according to Carmel Police. The downed lines caused power outages throughout the area as crews worked to complete repairs. A Hudson Valley man is behind bars for allegedly dealing fentanyl and other drugs in the region. Dutchess County resident Tyrone A. Moye, age 37, of Poughkeepsie, was taken down during a raid of his home on Wednesday, March 20 on Main Street. According to Det. Sgt. Several residents and firefighters were evaluated by first responders following a gas leak at a Hudson Valley condominium complex that forced an evacuation. The incident happened on Saturday, March 9 in Putnam County, when a gas leak was detected in a building at The Retreat at Carmel condominium complex, the Carmel Fire Department said on Wednesday, March 20. A Hudson Valley man has been charged with making a terroristic threat after allegedly threatening to blow up a building. Ulster County resident Marc Whittaker, age 47, of Kingston, was charged on Monday, March 11. According to Sgt. A 35-year-old man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing $33,000 in cell phones. Tairon Pressley, of the Bronx, was arrested after an investigation into a highly organized retail theft of cellular phones, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. He is accused of using stolen account information from cellular customers to steal Apple and Samsung smartphones from the Middletown Walmart on Route 211 on several dates in February and March, Nevel said. A student at a Hudson Valley elementary school is recovering after allegedly being hit over the head with a chair by another student. Two Hudson Valley teens are recovering after shooting themselves while allegedly playing with guns at a playground.
