Early Learning Program Shutting Down; Parents Seek Alternatives A YWCA early learning program in the Hartford area is closing for good. The YWCA announced that the Manchester Nike Tykes Early Learning Center will close on Oct. 30, according to Eyewitness News 3. Following the COVID-19 economic shutdown, the YWCA reopened the early learning center on Garden Grove Road in August. The decision to close is largely due to a lack of funds and infrastructure. On Thursday, Oct. 1, the Irish Supreme Court ruled that Subway's “bread” did not meet the standard definition of the food item. Two People Accused Of Strangling Dog To Death Are Arrested Police have arrested two people suspected of choking a dog to death because it wouldn’t go to sleep. Ryan Fisher, 41, and Jacqueline Baldina, 58, both of Morris Street in Southbridge, were arrested Tuesday, Sept. 29, for animal cruelty, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Southbridge Police said they became aware of the violence following an anonymous tip to the department’s tip411 app back in August. The tipster said that a man believed to be Fisher had made several Facebook posts claiming to have choked his dog to death because sleeping pills weren’t working, police said. …
