New Rochelle Lightning Pee Wees Win Philadelphia Tournament NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Lightning Pee Wee “A” ice hockey team travelled on the weekend of Oct. 23-25 to play in the Philadelphia Fall Classic. Playing five games in two days, the Lightning won their first tournament of the year by beating the Rochester Red Wings in the semifinals and the first place seeded Carolina Lightning 5-1 in the championship game. In the championship game, New Rochelle trailed 1-0 after the 1st period. However with some very timely goaltending and key saves by Sam Glusker (New Rochelle), the Lightning roared back to take a 2-1 lead after two periods. …

Norwalk Packers U8 Youth Football Team Caps Perfect Season NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Packers 8-and-under youth football team completed an undefeated season Saturday with a 33-18 victory over Middletown. Norwalk finished the season 8-0-1. There are no playoffs in the Connecticut Youth Football and Cheer Conference for 8-and-under teams. Jermel Bynum scored three touchdowns and went over the 1,000 yard plateau for the season with his second game of more than 200 yards rushing. Ethan Hudson and Carmine Giordano each scored touchdowns. Weston 8th Graders Hold On To Edge New Canaan WESTON, Conn. -- The Weston Trojans 8th grade football team beat New Canaan Red, 8-7, on Saturday in its final regular season game. Weston scored on its first drive, which was led by the hard running of Tyler Bower.
