Roselle Man Busted With Illegal Handgun: Linden PD A 29-year-old Roselle man was was arrested and charged with having an illegal loaded handgun on Thursday, Oct. 12, Linden police said. At 10 p.m. officers responded to Dill Avenue and Adams Street following the activation of a gunshot detection device, police. Officers saw Wazir Davis walking from the area and attempted to stop him, but Davis ignored them and ran across the street into an apartment building. Two Men Arrested For Shooting At Each Other: Bayonne PD Jancarlos Rivera, an 18-year-old Bayonne resident and James Parks, a 22-year-old Bayonne resident were arrested and charged on Tuesday, Oct. 17 after shooting at each other on Monday, Oct. 16, police said. At 8:40 p.m., Parks and Rivera were in the area of East 25th Street and Broadway when they encountered each other, police said. Video Shows 11-Year-Old Being Struck By Hit-Run Car In North Bergen An 11-year-old child in North Bergen is okay after being struck by a car that subsequently fled the scene on Tuesday, Oct. 17, based on video posted online. The boy was crossing the street at 76th Street and Hudson Avenue when an SUV ran a stop sign, struck the kid and continued on without stopping. Police said they are investigating. Jersey City Files Federal Suit Against State To Prevent Cops From Using Weed If Mayor Steven Fulop has his way, Jersey City police officers won't be having a festive 4/20. Fulop has filed a suit against the state seeking clarity on a law that bans employees from being fired for using marijuana off the clock, including police officers. The mayor said this law conflicts with federal law which he said prohibits anyone who uses cannabis from being able to use a firearm.  Fulop recently terminated five police officers who tested positive for marijuana after being warned to stop smoking.
