New Rochelle Students Take Top 3 Spanish Spelling Bee Spots NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The first-, second- and third-place winners of the districtwide Spanish Spelling Bee were three students from New Rochelle's Isaac E. Young Middle School. Middle school student Rafael Diloné was the top speller, followed by schoolmates John Lindao and Derek Alvarado. These students were among the 20 finalists in grades 6-8 who participated in the Spanish Spelling Bee from Albert Leonard Middle School and Isaac E. Young Middle School. Their teachers are Bianca Cambeiro and Kerly Bustillos.

Public Hearing For Proposed Amendment At Mount Vernon City Hall MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon City Council will have a public hearing on the proposed amendment to the SCRIE income eligibility limit at 7 p.m Wednesday in the City Council Chambers in City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square. A proposed amendment to the Article IV, Section 234 of the City Code (Tax Abatement for Rental Property Occupied by Senior Citizens) has been provided to the council for consideration. Yonkers Teacher Featured On Dr. Oz YONKERS, N.Y. -- Kelli Hargraves, the physical education teacher at St. Jean Baptiste High School, was featured on the Dr. Oz show in March, according to stjean.org. Hargraves, who is a Yonkers resident but teaches in New York City, was on the show to provide the public with an inspirational and supportive message on the importance of staying healthy.
