EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Eastchester Middle School PTA presents its Annual Spring Clothing Drive on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Support the EMS and clean out your closets/attics at the same time. You don't even need to get out of your car - someone will get your bags for you. All items must be in a sealed plastic bag. They get money for each pound of clothing they collect. IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Irvington's John Cardinal O’Connor School will hold its third annual Spring Gala Auction on Friday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at the CV Rich Mansion, 305 Ridgeway, White Plains. Comcast, Time Warner Deal Collapse Could Kill Other Mergers
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- If the merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable Inc. collapses, it would have a negative affect on other deals that are pending, according to bloomberg.com. The merger deal, worth $45.2 billion, will help Comcast handle competition from other companies including phone companies and Netflix, but the antitrust division in the Justice Department is attempting to block the merger from happening, reports bloomgberg.com. Danbury Rep. Harding Opposes 'Second-Chance' Bill
DANBURY, Conn. -- State Rep. Stephen Harding (R-Danbury) voted against a proposal that authors say would give drug offenders a second chance at turning their lives around by making drug possession a simple misdemeanor. S.B. 952, An Act Concerning a Second Chance Society, would lessen the possession of any narcotic or controlled substance to a misdemeanor offense. NORWALK, Conn. -- Esha Sharma, a junior at Norwalk High School, coached a team of five fourth- and fifth-graders from Norwalk, Wilton and Westport to the regional finals of the National History Bee on April 14 at Middlesex Middle School in Darien. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- During the recent "Undercover Bosses" fair, Mikala Bell, a Mount Vernon High School student, was chosen as the winner for a summer job program with Madison Approach Staffing.
