NJ's Aaron Rodgers Passed Over For Vice President: Report
It looks like New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, an Essex County resident, will have to focus on his day job this fall.
According to NBC News, Rodgers will not be Robert F. Kennedy Jr's running mate in the 2024 presidential election. Kennedy, who is running as an independent, is picking Nicole Shanahan, a Bay Area based attorney.
Rodgers, who owns a home in Cedar Grove, had been considered a finalist for the Veep slot, along with WWE Hall of Famer and former Minnesota governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura and former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

The Englewood native, who now works in New Orleans, appeared on "Jeopardy!" last week, winning twice, got shoutouts from Gayle King and the Louisiana Secretary of State, and took home more than $27,000.

Ittai Sopher spent years dreaming of being a contestant on 'Jeopardy!" When he finally got the chance, he didn't disappoint.
Sopher, an Englewood native who now works as a producer for a New Orleans TV station, is the reigning "Jeopardy!" champion, winning the edition that aired on Wednesday, July 12, taking home $12,401.
Since he started watching the show in 2010, Sopher said he wanted to be on it.
"I immediately tried out the first opportunity I got," said Sopher. "I've been trying out every year since then, but never made any progress."

Virginia Women Could Face Each Other On 'Jeopardy!' This Week
If the stars align, two Virginia women could face each other on "Jeopardy!" this week.
Laura Blyler Scanland, a nonprofit fundraiser from Newport News, will be on the Tuesday, June 13 episode.
Suzanne Goldlust, a marketing manager from Reston, will be on the Thursday, June 15 episode.
In order to win tonight's episode, Scanland would need to beat Suresh Krishnan, who is on a five-day winning streak with more than $82,000 already.

Cambridge 'Jeopardy!' Legend Returns To Show For 'Masters' Tourney
Matt Amodio, one of the greatest "Jeopardy!" champions ever, will return to the show on Monday, May 8, to face down some of the gameshow's other legends as part of the "Jeopardy! Masters" tournament.
Amodio, a postdoctoral researcher in Cambridge, won 38 games and more than $1.5 million in cash during his run on "Jeopardy!" in 2021.
