Convenience Store Shooting: Suspect Used Long Island Worker As Shield, Police Say At least three people were injured in a weekend shooting that involved six at a Long Island convenience store, police said. It happened on Saturday, July 22 in New Cassel, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 10 p.m., a group of five people entered the AAWA convenience store, located at 815 Prospect Avenue. Long Island Expressway Reckless Endangerment: 25-Year-Old Found Covered In Powder, Police Say A 25-year-old has been accused of reckless endangerment and other charges after he was found driving on the Long Island Expressway while covered in powder, police said. On Saturday, July 23 at approximately 9 p.m., Nassau County Police responded to the Long Island Expressway in Plainview on reports that there had been an accident. Medicine Thief Spotted Stealing From Long Island Store, Police Say Officials are imploring the community to aid in identifying and locating a man who they say stole nearly $1,000 in medicine from a Long Island grocery store. According to the Suffolk County Police, the man was seen leaving the Smithtown Stop & Shop, located at 291 West Main Street, on June 23. He left the store at approximately 5:30 p.m. with around $1,000 worth of over-the-counter medicine in tow. Long Island Mall Thief Caught Hiding In Jewelry Kiosk: Police A Long Island man was nabbed for allegedly burglarizing a local mall, police said, launching a search of the mall. The incident occurred early in the morning on Monday, July 17 at the Green Acres Mall, according to Nassau County Police. PayPal Scam Defrauds Over $40K From Long Island Woman: Police A Long Island woman lost tens of thousands in a scam involving a fake PayPal scam and US government agents, police said. On Thursday, July 13, a Manhasset woman received an email from what she believed was PayPal, according to Nassau County Police. Landscaping Equipment Worth Over $4K Stolen From Truck In Darien: Police Police are investigating an incident in which they say thousands of dollars of equipment was stolen from a landscaper while he was on the job. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 8 in Darien between 2 and 3 p.m., according to Darien Police. Sentenced: Heroin Dealer Feigned Addiction To Get Clients, Resulting In Fatal LI Overdose A Long Island drug dealer who faked addiction in order to get out of jail and amass clients in rehab has been sentenced to spend three decades behind bars, authorities announced. James Tunstall, also known as “Math,” was sentenced on Thursday, July 20 to 30 years in prison for distributing heroin which led to the death of a 24-year-old Jericho man, the US District Attorney’s Eastern District of New York Office announced. Duo Burgles Local Long Island Restaurant, Search On: Police Police say they are searching for a pair of men who they say broke into a Long Island restaurant and stole cash. It happened in Baldwin on Thursday, June 20 at 3:20 a.m., according to the Nassau County Police.
