The Albany County incident happened at around 2 a.m. Sunday, June 30, on I-87 in Bethlehem. New York State Police said 36-year-old James Gibson Jr., of West Coxsackie, was walking in the right southbound lane near Exit 23 when he was struck by a car. Swimmer Drowns At Long Island Beach A 54-year-old man died after being pulled from the water at a Long Island beach. Emergency crews in Southampton were called shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, for a drowning victim at Altenkirch County Park, located in the hamlet of Hampton Bays near Dune Road and Road H. Another beachgoer removed the man from the water and performed CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Southampton Town Police identified the man as Peter Dzakonski, of Hampton Bays. The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, in the parking lot of Eastern Suffolk BOCES in North Bellport, located on Martha Avenue.
