Police ID Worcester State Hoops Star, Father As Pedestrian Killed on I-290, GoFundMe Created Worcester police said identified the man who died in a hit-and-run crash along I-290 late Saturday night, Aug. 13, as a former star basketball star and father of a 4-year-old boy.  Jamal Mustapha, 27, was a standout player on the court at Doherty High School, where he graduated in 2013, reports said. Nicknamed Lucky Lefty, Mustapha played at UMass-Dartmouth for a season before he transferred to Worcester State University, where he played two seasons. No Sign Of 21-Year-Old Who Jumped From 'Jaws' Bridge After Second Day Of Searching Bad weather forced Massachusetts State Police divers to end their second day of searches Tuesday afternoon for a 21-year-old man who jumped from the famed American Legion Memorial Bridge on Martha's Vineyard with his brother on Sunday night, Aug. 14, and never resurfaced.  Tavaughn Bulgin, 21, his 26-year-old brother Tavaris Bulgin, and two friends dived from the bridge that connects Edgartown and Oak Bluffs just before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, but only two resurfaced, officials said. Ipswich Man, 70, Killed After Intentionally Stepping In Front Of Train: MBTA A 70-year-old Ipswich died Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, after authorities said he intentionally stepped in front of an oncoming train.  The man was walking along MBTA property off of Linebrook Road around 9 a.m. when he stepped onto the tracks and stood in the way of the train, MBTA officials said in an email to Salem News.  He was still alive when officers arrived, and they provided what medical aid they could until paramedics rushed him to Beverly Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead when he arrived, Ipswich police said.  They did not release the man's name.
