Mount Sinai Man Killed In Crash Between Car, Tow Truck A Long Island man was killed after running into the back of a tow truck stopped in the roadway. The crash took place in Coram around 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9. Preston Pavlo, of Mount Sinai, was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima southbound on County Road 83 when his vehicle struck the rear of an unoccupied tow truck that was parked in the left lane just south of Mooney Pond Road, said the Suffolk County Police. Officer Injured During Crash On Long Island Expressway A local police officer suffered neck and back injuries after being rear-ended while investigating a crash on the Long Island Expressway, according to authorities. The crash took place in New Hyde Park near Exit 36 around 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9. According to police, a highway patrol officer was investigating a crash in the vicinity of Exit 36. Woman Threatens Bedford Hills Deli Worker In Dispute Over Sandwich, Police Say A woman who threatened a deli worker with a knife because she didn't like how her sandwich was being made has been arrested. The incident took place in Northern Westchester on Sunday, April 24 at the Bedford Hills Deli and Convenience Store on Babbitt Road, but the arrest was just made recently after the woman was apprehended in New York City. Woman Found Dead Behind Building In Hudson Valley, Police Say Police are asking the public for help after a woman was found dead behind a building in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Orange County in Newburgh around 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8. According to Newburgh Police, a 55-year-old woman was located dead behind a building in the area of William Street and Carson Avenue. Officers responded and processed the scene. Upon further investigation, the circumstances of her death do not appear to be suspicious in nature, police said. 4 Charged, 31 Ghost Guns Seized In Multi-Agency Yonkers Bust Four people have been charged and 31 guns ghost guns seized following a multi-agency investigation into a pipeline that brought guns from Washington, DC to Westchester County. The four were charged following their arrest in June for trafficking of illegal firearms from Washington, DC to Westchester between April and June, said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. ID Released For Man Found Floating In Cove On Long Island Police have released the name of a man whose body was found floating along the shoreline of a Long Island cove. Keith Viagas, age 63, of Noyac, a hamlet of Southampton, was found around 11:45 a.m., Monday, Aug. 9. According to Lt. Susan Ralph, of the Southampton Police, a caller reported a man floating on the shoreline of Sag Harbor Cove. Police responded to the area and found Viagas on the coastline, Ralph said. Getaway Driver In NY UPS Warehouse Heist Was Philadelphia Man: Police A Philadelphia man acted as the getaway driver in the heist of a New York UPS warehouse in which the security guard barricaded himself inside, bringing an area SWAT team to the scene, authorities said. 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Hudson Valley Shooting, Police Say Police are asking the public for help after a man was shot and killed and another injured in the area. The homicide took place in Dutchess County in the city of Poughkeepsie around 1:45 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 283 Mansion St. The responding officer located the shooting victim laying in the street next to his vehicle, said Det. The incident took place in Rockland County around 4 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 7 at the warehouse located at 31 Murray Hill Drive in Nanuet.
