She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Charged After Boy, 9, Dies Following DWI Crash On Long Island Expressway A man who was allegedly driving drunk on the Long Island Expressway when he slammed into another vehicle, killing a 9-year-old has been charged. Travis Dickson, age 27, of Brooklyn, was charged on Monday, Aug. 22, with driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle crash that took place in Farmingville around 1:50 a.m. The crash happened when Dickson, driving a 2018 BMW westbound on the LIE, rear-ended a 2019 Toyota Corolla. 22-Year-Old Drowns While Rafting In Region A 22-year-old man from the region drowned while rafting over the weekend. The incident took. place Sullivan County around 3:10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, in the town of Barryville. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers responded to Indian Head Campgrounds in the town of Barryville for a report of a drowning. A preliminary investigation revealed that New York City resident Brian J. Ordenia-Flores, age 22, from Richmond Hill, Queens, was rafting on the Delaware River with family and friends, Nevel said. Suspicious CT Shooting Leaves Man, Woman Dead A man and a woman were shot and killed in what police are calling "suspicious deaths." The two were discovered in a Hartford County home in East Granby around 5:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28 on Wynding Hills Road, according to the Connecticut State Police. Preliminary information says troopers responded to the home after receiving a 911 call reporting gunshots, state police said. Car Crashes Into LA Fitness In East Patchogue A driver was injured after crashing into the front of a Long Island fitness center. The incident occurred in North Patchogue around 2:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, at the LA Fitness on Gateway Boulevard. According to Suffolk County police, patrons were not injured, and the Brookhaven Town fire marshal and building inspector officers were notified of the crash. The injuries to the driver were described as minor.

DoorDash Driver Wanted For Stealing $700 Worth Of Items From CT Restaurant Police are asking the public for help identifying a DoorDash driver who allegedly stole $700 worth of Apple products from a restaurant in Connecticut. The incident took place in Litchfield County around 8:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 22 in Watertown. According to the Watertown Police, the driver stole a fanny pack containing the apple products from the Lebnani Grill in Watertown. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ofc. Man Faces Impaired Driving Charge After Crash In Area A man was arrested for alleged intoxicated driving after hitting a car in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Putnam County around 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16 in the town of Kent. Police responded to the Kent Center for a report of a man who had struck a car and was possibly intoxicated, the department said. Wanted Out-Of-State Man Apprehended In Hudson Valley An out-of-state man wanted for assaulting a woman was nabbed by police in the Hudson Valley. The man was apprehended in Ulster County while officers were conducting a warrant investigation on Tuesday, Aug. 23. While conducting the investigation, officers located AJ Brown, age unknown, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, living in the hamlet of Glasco, in the town of Saugerties, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said. Duo Accused Of Conning Victim To Steal Wallet With Credit Cards At Huntington Station Lidl Police on Long Island are asking the public for help identifying a duo who allegedly conned a woman in order to steal and use her credit cards. The incident took place in Suffolk County at the Lidl in Huntington Station on Thursday, Aug. 18.
