An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Stepinac Student Receives Rooney Distinguished Graduate Award YONKERS, N.Y. -- Shane Rafferty, a Yonkers resident, and Stepinac graduate is this year's 2017 recipient of the Timothy J. Rooney Distinguished Graduate Award. Rafferty was presented with the $1,000 scholarship on June 29 at the Lincoln Park Taxpayers Association meeting in Yonkers. The SPCA said Chico is a friendly, boisterous guy who will need to stay on the calm side for the next few months -- he's heartworm positive and has to stick to leash walks, nosework, food puzzles while he gets his treatments.  Chico is eligible for foster-to-adopt, which means he can receive the care he needs in a home instead of at the shelter, his heartworm treatment will be covered by the SPCA at its clinic.
