An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Mahopac Students Raise $3,000 For Hurricane Relief MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- The students at Fulmar Road Elementary School in Mahopac are lending a helping hand.Teachers Andrea Jones and Christine Czuy organized Fulmar’s Charity Walk/Run for Hurricane Relief, which raised more than $3,000 for the Red Cross’s hurricane-relief efforts. More than 240 of “Fulmar’s Finest”, including students, administrators, and staff joined together on Sept. 19 to rally for the cause. Westchester Legislators One Vote Shy Of Immigrant Protection Act Override WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Westchester Board of Legislators fell one vote short of passing the Immigrant Protection Act. The legislators failed to override County Executive Rob Astorino's veto, voting 11-6 in favor. Twelve votes were needed to override Astorino's veto. All nine Democrats voted to override the veto, along with Republicans James Maisano and David Gelfarb. Netflix Show Filming At Ossining Diner OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining is once again getting its moment in the spotlight. A Netflix show is filming at DD's Diner on North Highland Avenue on Tuesday, though the Village of Ossining was unable to confirm the title of the project. The show will be periodically filming in the roadway from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., causing momentary closures, according to the Ossining Police Department. Poughkeepsie Restaurant Owner Lends Helping Hand To Houston Family POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- After Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, a Dutchess restauranteur decided to do more than just donate money. Charles Fells, who runs The Artist's Palate and Brassiere 292 in Poughkeepsie, hired Roderick Boney, a Houston resident, to work as a sous chef at Artist's Palate. Eric Trump Hosts Secret Charity Event At Trump National In Briarcliff An investigation by the New York Attorney General didn't prevent Eric Trump, who lives at the Seven Springs estate in Bedford, from hosting a charity event at Trump National in Briarcliff on Monday, Sept. 18, according to Forbes. Mahopac Woman Possesses Controlled Substances, Yorktown Police Say YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- An unwanted person complaint led to a Mahopac woman arrested and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. Danielle Hartmann, 22, was charged with the three misdemeanors after police responded to the complaint at Hickory Street. During the investigation, Hartmann was found to be in possession of Suboxone sublingal film, Acetaminophen Codine pills, and Alprazolam, controlled substances, police said. White Plains YMCA Offering Free Memberships To Ronald McDonald Families WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Families who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Valhalla will now get free daily gym memberships at the YMCA in White Plains. .“This is a wonderful addition to the support services that we provide to the families who are staying with us while their children are receiving treatment,” said Terence Hughes, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House.
