MTA Conducting Traffic Study of Overcrowded North Salem Commuter Lots NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is studying traffic in and around its commuter lots in North Salem in the hopes of finding a solution to overcrowding, according to MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan. The authority hired Simco Engineering, New York City-based transportation consultants, to conduct the study, Donovan said. The data-gathering phase of the study was conducted on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Five Byram Hills Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists ARMONK, N.Y. -- Five seniors in the Byram Hills Central School District have been named as semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program, Armonk school officials said. Kevin Chang, Fionn Connolly, Jolie A. Feldman, Nicole H. Kim, and Chad J. Schwam were among 16,000 high school students in the nation to be tapped for the honor. There will be 7,400 scholarships -- in total worth more than $32 million -- awarded next spring. The five Byram Hills seniors will now compete for one of those scholarships.
