Chappaqua’s Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are drawing competitive stats among likely Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa, according to the latest Marist Poll following the race for the White House.
With the caucus and the New Hampshire primary drawing near, Clinton is pulling 48 percent in Iowa, while Sanders is at 45 percent, the poll found. The three-percent difference, couple with the margin for error, means the race is a dead heat.

Family Of Late New Rochelle Journalist Sets Up Fund At SUNY Purchase
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- An endowed fund honoring Peter Keller, a longtime New Rochelle resident, has been set up at SUNY Purchase, where his daughter teaches history.
Lisa Keller said her father, a distinguished journalist at the Wall Street Journal for more than 56 years, was a voracious reader of both history and literature. He died in 2005 at the age of 87.
The Peter Keller Fund, an endowment in the Purchase college’s School of the Humanities, was formally announced on Thursday, Jan. 7 and dedicated by Keller and her husband, Saky Yakas, a managing partner at SLCE Architects.

New York Man Faces Drug Charges After Darien Traffic Stop
DARIEN, CONN. -- A Mount Vernon, N.Y., man faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Darien, according to a report in the Darien Times.
David Lewis, 25, was one of two passengers in a car pulled over by police on Post Road on Sunday, Jan. 10 after the driver ran a red light, according to the Darien Times story.
Police told the Darien Times that an investigation uncovered baggies of marijuana in a backpack in the car’s trunk.
Lewis was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, the Darien Times reported.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The family of a disabled Poughkeepsie woman is trying to raise money to buy her another service dog after her Chihuahua was mauled to death by a pit bull.
According to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal, Rosemary “Rosie” Cole was sitting in her wheelchair on Main Street on Friday, Jan. 8, with Honey, when a pit bull ripped the 4-pound dog from her arms and killed it.

Man Faces Drug Charges After Fishkill Stop For Tinted Windows
FISHKILL, N.Y. -- A Newburgh man faces multiple drug charges after state troopers stopped him on Route 52 in Fishkill, police said.
Shawn Albright, 39, was pulled over for a window-tint violation on Friday, Jan. 8, police said.
The arresting officer reported smelling marijuana coming from Albright’s vehicle and conducted a search which turned up Xanax, Oxycodone, Viagra, and pot, police said.

Rockland Man Faces DWI Charge After Fleeing Domestic Dispute, Police Say
STONY POINT, N.Y. -- A Stony Point man faces charges of driving while intoxicated after leaving the scene of a domestic dispute, police said.
Noel Castro, 49, of Grassy Point Road, was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 10, shortly after the incident and was issued several traffic tickets, police said.
He is to appear in Stony Point Justice Court on Tuesday, Feb. 2, police said.
