Woman Charged With Stealing $158 Worth Of Items From Yorktown BJ's YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – A 77-year-old Peekskill woman is facing petit larceny charges after police accused her of taking groceries and other items from a Yorktown store without paying for them. Ena Giler was arrested Thursday at the BJs Wholesale Club on Crompond Road after, police and store security said, she tried to take $157.91 worth of items. Giler was released on $100 bail and is to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on June 23 to answer the charges, police said.

Sloatsburg Shooting Victim's Daughter Sues Town Of Ramapo, Police SLOATSBURG, N.Y. -- The daughter of a Sloatsburg woman said to have been shot by her husband has launched a wrongful-death lawsuit against the town of Ramapo and its police department, according to a report by lohud.com. Hutchinson Elementary School Gets New Principal PELHAM, N.Y. -- The Hutchinson Elementary School in Pelham will have a new principal as of July 1, district officials say. The Board of Education confirmed on Tuesday, May 24, Schools Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo’s choice of Trisha Nugent Fitzgerald as the head of the Third Avenue school. Motorist Had Phony Inspection Sticker, Ramapo Police Say RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police reported arresting a motorist for having a phony inspection sticker on his car. The driver was stopped on Route 45 in the Village of New Hempstead Thursday, May 26, police said, for having an expired inspection sticker. Spring Valley Woman Sought On Forgery, Larceny Charges, Police Say CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman wanted for forgery and other crimes. Marie Gazemar, 45, whose last known address was Spring Valley, is also wanted on charges of larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said. Gazemar is described by police as black, 5 foot 4 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Clarkstown Police Warn Of IRS Phone Scammers CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown police say they are getting a lot of calls from residents who fear they may have been targets of IRS phone scammers. The callers often claim to be an agent from the Internal Revenue Service calling about a past-due balance. The caller will tell the victim that unless the debt is paid immediately, a team of officers will come to the victim’s home that day to arrest the victim.
