Rockland Businessman Supports Trump With New Campaign Headquarters
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Undeterred by Donald Trump’s remarks about Muslims and women, one Rockland businessman shelled out his own money to open a headquarters for the presidential hopeful, according to a report by News12.
Barry Fixler, a Vietnam War veteran and a jeweler, is handing out bumper stickers, signs and other campaign items at the new site on Route 304 in the Clarkstown hamlet of Bardonia, the News12 report said.
Fixler told News12 that, despite the controversy, he doesn’t believe that the Republican candidate is a racist.

YONKERS, N.Y. -- In the five years since it was built in Yonkers, the so-called upscale, lifestyle center of Ridge Hill has exceeded expectations and allayed some fears, according to a report by lohud.com.
The economic times were tough when the developers, Forest City Ratner Companies, broke ground on the project and questions were raised both about its feasibility and the traffic it would generate, lohud.com reported.
Ridge Hill, which started with 11 stores, businesses and restaurants, now has 69, and predictions of massive traffic jams have failed to materialize, the lohud.com story said…
Ex-nyc Cop, Stony Point Resident Pleads Guilty To $600,000 Disability Fraud
STONY POINT, N.Y. -- A former New York City police officer who lives in Stony Point has admitted stealing $600,000 in disability benefits, according to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
Thomas Shea, 56, pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan to one count of theft of government funds, Bharara said.
Shea faces 10 years behind bars.
According to the U.S. attorney, Shea began working for the NYPD in 1981. He was promoted to sergeant in 1987 and retired in 1993 because of a shoulder injury.
In 1995, Shea applied for Social Security disability benefits, saying he was unable to work. …
Teen Faces Charges In Theft Of $8,000 In Goods From Orangeburg Home
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- A New Jersey teen is facing charges after police accused him of stealing $8,000 worth of items from an Orangeburg homeowner, police announced Thursday.
Matthew E. Tuite, 19, of Norwood, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, in connection with the theft of cash, gift cards, a U.S. commemorative coin, and a bottle of narcotic painkillers from the home, police said.
Police said Tuite had been hired by the homeowner to perform some painting services. He is due in Orangeburg Justice Court on Aug. 10.
