An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Jersey City Mom Killed In Five-Car Crash Left Behind Young Twins, Teens The family of Desiree Milow, the driver who was killed when her vehicle overturned and struck five others in Jersey City on Memorial Day Weekend, is seeing support from the community. A fundraiser has been created to assist with funeral expenses and to help Milow's children in the aftermath of her death. She was the mother of a 15-year-old, a 14-year-old and two 17-month-old twins. Community Supports Linden Family Who Lost Everything In Fire The Benda family lost everything, including their two cats Sunshine and Peek-a-Boo, after a fire engulfed their Linden home on Friday, May 26. While the family, John, Carol and their two daughters, Kristen and Jamie, were lucky to escape unharmed, the fire destroyed their home and their possessions. A fundraiser has been created to help them get back on their feet. As of Friday, June 2, more than $15,000 has been raised. Officer Kills Dog After Attack In Linden: Police A dog was shot and killed after it attacked two police officers in Linden on Friday morning, June 2, authorities said. At 11 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Dewitt St. to check on the welfare of multiple dogs, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. During their investigation, two officers were attacked by one of the dogs. Another officer shot the dog once, killing the dog, Guenther said. Tributes Pour In For Jocelyn Russo, 47 Jocelyn Russo, a Jersey City native, died on Tuesday, May 23 at the age of 47, according to her obituary. Russo worked as a peer recovery specialist at Prevention Links in Roselle, according to her LinkedIn. Man Fatally Shot In Elizabeth: Prosecutors A 44-year-old man was shot and killed in Elizabeth on Wednesday, May 31, authorities said. At 1:23 p.m., Elizabeth police responded to the 700 block of Dowd Avenue for a report of gunshots in the area, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Ambulance Overturns At Garden State Parkway Toll Plaza Two people were injured after an ambulance overturned at the Essex County Toll Plaza Thursday morning, June 1 on the Garden State Parkway, state police said. The crash happened at 9:06 a.m. after the ambulance struck the toll plaza, Philip Curry, a public information officer for the New Jersey State Police said. The two occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, Curry said. Toll lanes 8, 9, 10 and 11 remain closed as police continue to investigate the crash, Curry said.
