Community Supports Linden Family Who Lost Everything In Fire The Benda family lost everything, including their two cats Sunshine and Peek-a-Boo, after a fire engulfed their Linden home on Friday, May 26. While the family, John, Carol and their two daughters, Kristen and Jamie, were lucky to escape unharmed, the fire destroyed their home and their possessions. Officer Kills Dog After Attack In Linden: Police A dog was shot and killed after it attacked two police officers in Linden on Friday morning, June 2, authorities said. At 11 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Dewitt St. to check on the welfare of multiple dogs, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. Ambulance Overturns At Garden State Parkway Toll Plaza Two people were injured after an ambulance overturned at the Essex County Toll Plaza Thursday morning, June 1 on the Garden State Parkway, state police said. The crash happened at 9:06 a.m. after the ambulance struck the toll plaza, Philip Curry, a public information officer for the New Jersey State Police said. The two occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, Curry said. Toll lanes 8, 9, 10 and 11 remain closed as police continue to investigate the crash, Curry said.
