Girl, 8, Struck By Car In Newark: Police An 8-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in Newark on the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 11, authorities said. At 3:03 p.m., police responded to Broadway and 2nd Avenue and transported the girl to University Hospital for treatment, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The child is in stable condition, Fragé said. The driver remained at the scene and the incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

Scott Bartlett, Navy Veteran, Sussex County First Responder, Dies At 49 Scott Bartlett, who spent many years in Vernon volunteering as a first responder, died on Friday, Dec. 29 at the age of 49 in Honolulu, according to his obituary on the Pinkel Funeral Home website. Barlett was born in Ridgewood and moved to Vernon, his obituary reads. He served in the Navy from 1993 to 1997 as a disaster recovery specialist, according to his obituary.
