An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Toddler Falls From Second Floor Window: Newark PD A 2-year-old toddler is in stable condition after he fell from a second-floor window on the evening of Sunday, March 17, authorities said. At 7:26 p.m., the toddler's mother carried him into the 4th Precinct and said he had fallen from the window in the 100 block of 16th Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The child was then transported to University Hospital, Fragé said.

Armando Fontoura, who was appointed sheriff in 1990 and been elected to 10 terms is not seeking re-election, a spokesperson for the Essex County Sherriff's Office said.  Fontoura is the longest tenured sheriff in Essex County history. Prior to becoming sheriff, Fontoura was a teacher in the Newark public school system and later a Newark police officer, achieving the rank of captain and serving as chief assistant to the police director. Truck Loaded With Water Waste Overturns On Route 80: Njsp A  tractor trailer filled with water waste overturned on Route 80 in Warren County on the early morning of Sunday, March 19, authorities said. At 12:44 a.m., a Kenworth truck was traveling eastbound on Route 80 in Knowlton Township when the driver lost directional control and overturned, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.

At 6:10 a.m., Erik Rivera was driving a 2011 Lexus east on Belle Mead-Griggstown Road when he collided with the guardrail at an intersection, Montgomery police said. The vehicle left the roadway and ended up overturned in an embankment, partially submerged in water, police said. Support Swells For Montclair Native Battling Cancer Zoe Rosenberg recently celebrated her 23rd birthday — battling the fight of her life. A Montclair native, Rosenberg was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2022, according to a GoFundMe launched for her care.
