Legislature OKs Hotel, Motel Occupancy Tax For Greenburgh. Elmsford
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The New York State Legislature recently passed legislation that would provide local municipalities with an additional non-property tax source of revenue to fund basic and necessary services.
The legislation, sponsored by Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant) and State. Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Yonkers), authorizes eight local governments (town of Greenburgh, villages of Tarrytown, Elmsford, Sleepy Hollow, Ardsley, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry and Hastings-on-Hudson) to collect a hotel/motel occupancy tax of up to 3 percent. Paulin's Bill Giving Easier Access To Immunizations Is Signed Into Law
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- New York State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88) announced that legislation she authored expanding access to immunizations, was signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The legislation, signed on July 1, authorizes pharmacists and nurse practitioners to administer immunizations to prevent shingles, meningitis, tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough, and continues their ability to immunize against influenza.
“Allowing pharmacists and nurse practitioners to administer these vaccines will make it easier for a greater percentage of people to get immunized,” Paulin said.

TARRYOWN, N.Y. -- A graveside service will be held on Aug. 14 in Sleepy Hollow for Theodore Jako, 75, who died at his home in Statesboro, Ga., on May 30.
Jako was born in Tarrytown and previously resided in of Lake Worth, Fla. and Naples, Fla.
He graduated from the RCA Technical School in Camden, N.J. and later worked as chief engineer at St. John's University.
In 1976 he left St. John's to work as a cameraman and sound technician for NBC in New York, then moved onto Cablevision, where he was responsible for the purchase of all new technology and equipment and oversaw the team that…
