Pair Charged With Attempted Murder For Firing At Vehicle In Somerset County: Prosecutor
Two suspects were arrested and charged with attempted murder for firing at a vehicle in Somerset County last year, authorities announced Friday, Sept. 15.
Ikeem Thomas, 20, of Covington, Georgia, and Josiah T. Talbert, 20, of Somerset, were each charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and various weapons offenses stemming from an incident in which they fired at a vehicle near Sunny Slope Road in Bridgewater around 3:30 p.m. on March 1, 2022, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. Carlos Mendez, of Lopatcong Township, died Sunday, Sept. 3, his obituary says. He was 46.
Born in Cleveland, OH, Carlos worked as an IT administrator for Huston Lumber in Watchung. He was known for his love of the outdoors, especially riding ATVs.

Warren County Liquor Store Sells Two Winning Powerball Tickets Worth $50K Each
Winners! A pair of New Jersey Lottery tickets worth $50,000 each were sold at the same liquor store in Warren County.
The tickets, which matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball for the Wednesday, Sept. 13 drawing, were both sold at Town & Country Liquors on Route 57 East in Washington, lottery officials said.
The winning numbers were: 22, 30, 37, 44, and 45. The Red Power Ball was 18, and the Power Play was 3X.
