71-Year-Old West Wareham Man Killed In Four-Car Middleborough Crash On I-495 A 71-year-old man was killed on Friday, Aug. 2, in a four-vehicle wreck that began when a tractor-trailer crashed into traffic as it slowed down, authorities said.  Police were called to the crash around 11:30 a.m. on I-495 near Exit 12. A preliminary investigation found the tractor-trailer — for reasons unknown — slammed into the back of three vehicles, including a GMC Terrain being driven by a 71-year-old West Wareham man, State police said.  Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital, but doctors could not save his life. Mansfield Man Killed In Wrentham Crash A 50-year-old Mansfield man was killed on Friday, Aug. 2, in a two-car crash in Wrentham.  Troopers were called to the wreck on Route 1 when a 2014 Mercedes CLA sedan traveling north on Route 1 attempted to make an abrupt U-turn from the center lane, State police said. The sedan slammed into a car in the left lane.  Paramedics rushed the driver of the Mercedes to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries.  Authorities have not released his name as they notify his next of kin. The driver in the second car was not injured.  Police closed a portion of the road …

Beagle Left Nearly Dead On Western Mass Roadside; Police Looking For Truck That Abandoned Her A beagle nicknamed Bagel was abandoned on a Hampshire County roadside last month, suffering from a battery of severe health problems and covered in feces. Police are now asking for the public's help to find the person who left her there.  Bagel was dropped off near a Tractor Supply Company in Belchertown on July 2. The 2-year-old was covered in excrement, had mange, a double ear inflection, cheery eyes, and infections in her paws. She had also had puppies at some point. Man Who Shot Himself In Hand, Rival In Groin Gets 2.5 Years Behind Bars: DA A 20-year-old Berkshire County man admitted to firing a gun inside of a car sending the bullet through his hand and into another man's groin during a fight, authorities said.  Ryan Starbird, of Pittsfield, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and assault and battery by firing a gun, the Berkshire County District Attorney said.  Starbird was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and three years of probation.  The shootin…
