Greenwich Teen Selected For U.S. Soccer Boys National Team GREENWICH, Conn. -- Tyler Shaver, a 14-year-old from Riverside, was selected for the Under-15 U.S. Soccer Boys National Team and will be attending the training camp next week in Bradenton, Fla. Shaver is a defender for the Beachside Soccer Club of Connecticut, where he plays with the U15-16 Academy team, coached by Mickey Kydes. Academy soccer represents the highest level of junior soccer played in the U.S., and the Beachside team is one of the strongest U15-16 teams in the Northeast. Norwalk Scouts Put Skills To The Test At Camporee REDDING, Conn. – Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from all over Fairfield County joined together for a weekend of camping recently. Some 700 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan and Wilton put their skills to the test during the “Battle of Hoyt” camporee in Redding last month. The Powahay District’s Colonial-themed weekend encampment included starting campfires with flint and steel, cooking Revolutionary War-era meals; a two-man saw competition and throwing tomahawks.
