Darien YMCA Gymnasts Score Perfect 10 At State Championship DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien YMCA gymnastics team reached new heights at the 2015 Connecticut YMCA State Championship meet in Glastonbury.  Level 5 gymnast Leah Wall scored a perfect 10 for her floor exercise routine, winning the all-around title and leading the team to a first-place finish. West Barnes, 89, Of Bridgeport, World War II Veteran BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- West Barnes, 89, died Saturday, April 4, 2015.  He was born in Greenville, N.C., Sept. 6, 1925. Barnes served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been gainfully employed with Hartley & Parker Ltd. for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church.  Barnes is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Emma Lee (Swinton) Barnes; daughters, Ann and Edith Barnes; grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.
