Tragedy has struck yet again for a New Jersey synagogue targeted in a 2012 firebombing.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, a blaze ripped through Rabbi Yitzchok Lerman and his wife, Bina's, Montross Avenue home and synagogue in Rutherford, where they've been since 2014.
The couple and four of their six children who were home at the time escaped "right in the nick of time," according to Bina's sister, Brocha Wilschanski. However, everything else was destroyed — including all seven Torahs.

A fast-moving lightning storm dropped nearly 5 inches of rain over part of the Hudson Valley in just two hours Monday afternoon, July 14, causing flash flooding, downed trees, transformer fires, and even a partial building collapse in one town.
According to the Patterson Fire Department in Putnam County, the most intense stretch of the storm hit shortly after 4 p.m., overwhelming storm drains and flooding local rivers. Al-Ashraf Khalil, 31, and Isaam Jaghama, 31, were found guilty by a federal jury of conspiracy to commit malicious damage by fire and malicious damage by fire of a building used in interstate commerce, according to U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Four Newark firefighters were injured battling a three-alarm blaze that began on the late evening of Friday, Nov. 15, authorities said.
At 11:57 p.m., firefighters responded to 11 Seymour Ave., an unoccupied residential building, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The fire extended to two occupied residential buildings at 9 Seymour Ave. and 13 Seymour Ave, Miranda said.

A Hudson Valley man suffered severe head trauma and other injuries after driving his 2015 Chevy Silverado into a Dunkin' Donuts, destroying the building.
