Restaurant Closes After 11 Years In Westchester, Was Known For Comfort Food
After more than a decade of serving comfort food in Westchester, a longtime restaurant has closed its doors for good.
The Wooden Spoon, located at 1282 North Ave., closed on Sunday, Aug. 16, ending an 11-year run in the city, owner Nick Triscari announced.
The restaurant spent its first nine years on Division Street before moving to North Avenue two years ago.
"The last 11 years...have been an incredible ride," Triscari wrote in announcing the closure, adding, "We thank everyone who made the Wooden Spoon a part of their lives."

100-Year-Old Colt Pistol Seized From Suspect In Westchester
A century-old pistol with a defaced serial number was taken off the streets after officers recovered it from a suspect in Northern Westchester, police said.
The Colt .25-caliber pistol, which police said is 100 years old, was found in Ossining on Saturday night, Aug. 22, the Ossining Police Department announced on Monday, Aug. 24.
Police said the weapon was unloaded when officers found it. However, its serial number had allegedly been defaced, and the person carrying it did not have a pistol permit.

A traffic stop in Northern Westchester led to the discovery of crack cocaine and heroin and the arrest of a wanted man, police said.
Elmsford resident Olajuwon Dancy, 39, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 19, following a traffic stop in Croton-on-Hudson, the village's police department announced on Monday, Aug. 24.
The traffic stop happened the same day on Mount Airy Road, when officers stopped a vehicle after its driver allegedly failed to use a turn signal, police said.

A 19-year-old Long Island lacrosse player is being remembered for his outgoing personality, positive spirit, and love of cars after his death in a head-on crash in Ulster County.
Smithtown resident Peter B. Bonenfant, 19, died in a two-vehicle crash on Route 28 in the Town of Olive in Ulster County on Sunday morning, Aug. 23, as Daily Voice previously reported.
The crash happened around 6:47 a.m., when a 2024 Chevrolet driven west by Bonenfant crossed into the eastbound lane for an unknown reason and struck a 2021 Mercedes-Benz head-on, according to New York State Police.
